How to apply
Seven steps from the moment you send us a message to the moment someone meets you at the airport in Accra. Most volunteers get from step one to step four inside a fortnight.
Apply
Send us your application through the form on this site, or through one of the volunteering platforms we are listed on. Attach a CV and tell us which kinds of work interest you and roughly when you would like to come.
We get back to you
A member of our team reviews your application and replies personally — usually within a few days. If your dates or the work you have in mind need adjusting, we say so at this point rather than later.
A conversation
We arrange a video call. This is genuinely two-way: we want to understand what you are good at, and you should use it to ask us everything that the website does not answer.
Confirmation and background check
If we are both happy, we confirm your place and your dates. You provide a criminal background check from your home country — required for everyone working with children.
Fees and booking
You receive a written quote covering your programme fee and what it includes. Your place, your bed and your airport collection are reserved once the deposit is settled.
Visa and preparation
You apply for your Ghana tourist visa — we provide any supporting documentation your embassy asks for. You also receive our volunteer handbook with everything to arrange before you fly.
Final check and arrival
About a week before you travel we confirm your flight details, tell you who is collecting you from the airport and give you their number. Then you land in Accra, and we take it from there.
Found us on a volunteering platform?
You can apply either way — through the platform you found us on, or directly here. Applying directly is slightly faster, since your message reaches our team without going through a booking system. Whichever route you take, the placement, the fee and the process are exactly the same.
Before you apply
See what the work is
The programme spans five kinds of work and most volunteers take on two or three. Have a look and note which ones you are drawn to.

Know what the programme costs, what it covers and what you need to budget for separately before you commit to dates.

Visa, vaccinations, safety, safeguarding, accommodation and weekends — most of what you are about to ask is answered there.
